Our Music Therapists work with children aged birth to 25 years, their families and support networks, to improve their health, functioning and wellbeing. Music Therapy is conducted by a University trained professional who is Registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association Inc. Music Therapy can encourage children to communicate either verbally or non-verbally.
Music Therapy provides many benefits for children as it a basic human response and provides a motivating and enjoyable experience for children. Music therapy also addresses multiple developmental concerns simultaneously, while providing positive reinforcement and encouragement for communication.
As part of your Music Therapy a program plan will be developed for your child. Activities may include singing songs, small percussion play, choice making, moving to music, song writing, improvisation with keyboard and percussion and/or use of props.
Our Music Therapists work collaboratively with other therapists within the practice as well as other stakeholders involved with the family and young person.
